The Forced Vessel: Nox was born to parents who didn't know what he was. But the Shattered Axis who has eyes and ears in all the hospitals they know what to look for in babies. So they kidnapped him from his parents to use him to summon their planar entity. The ritual goes wrong, everyone is destroyed but Nox who absorbed enough of the Phoenix to survive the blast.

Chase Knight finds him, raises him on the road and uses him to trap entities.

The Lunar Symbiosis: As a baby, Chase Knight traps many creatures inside Nox. Not knowing what it would do to the Vas. Nox gets sick, Chase doesn't know what to do and takes him to a shaman in the mountains, where Nox meets Alex (his soulmate) and the Shaman is able to help Nox transfer the creatures into the jars/vials.

Alex is a soul gone too early meant to haunt the place he died until he finds his soulmate. He finds Nox and they share a body, they can communicate in Nox's mind, and only truly interact in the dream. But Alex is what keeps Nox's sanity, allows him to continue to do what his guardian asks of him without the same problem.

Shamanistic Teachings of Magic: While Nox was with the shaman, he was taught how to access magic through ritual and encoding using the Ancient Runic Language. It came easy for Nox, the language settled into his soul with his Rapid Retention.

The Black Ledger: As a youngster Nox was fascinated with patterns and computers even though he rarely got to use one he taught himself how to code and ultimately learned to hack his way into security. Nox started a side app that Chase Knight knew nothing about called the Black Ledger, where he chronicled details of cases he found on the internet and through his hacking skills others might be interested in. While Chase was hunting down creatures Nox was cataloging everything in the Black Ledger. Around the internet he became know as The Black Chronicler.

The Demon's Price: Chase Knight traps a demon inside of him, but the demon is too strong and Alex helps Nox break free but not before he's already killed his guardian. And before the demon is sent back to hell it tries to take the guardians soul but Nox absorbs his guardian's soul first. Then transfers him to a vial or risk going to hell.

The Black Chronicler: At Chase Knight's funeral, Nox encounters Sage Morgan and Sage offers him a job. Sage found out that Nox was the Black Chronicler and offered Nox a home, legal hunting status and membership into the Drift even though he was technically bound to the Unbound through his guardian. The warehouse they set him up in provided personal sanctuary for Nox and the new server farm that would be the new home of the Black Ledger.
